I booked a car to pick up at 9:00 a.m., and I arrived at the exact time, finished the paperwork, and tried to take over the vehicle, so the staff asked me to wait 10 minutes because they had to fill up the fuel. But in conclusion, we had to wait for an hour and a half without hearing any explanation or apology. In the meantime, I asked why it was delayed, but I only had to hear the answer, "I don't know."When the car was finally ready, the employee who responded to us only threw the key at us and ignored us to handle other customers, so we didn't hear any explanation about the vehicle from him.when I came out of the garage I realized that I didn't check the fuel gauge with him and took a picture. The fuel was not full and was half full.The car return to Madrid Airport will be on October 12th.I hope I won't have to pay extra for fuel.

I paid for what was clearly advertised as a premium SUV, but when I arrived, they handed me a standard SUV instead. When I questioned it, they told me to contact head office for a refund. Since then, I’ve contacted head office at least seven times, and every single time I’m told that a manager will call me back within five working days. No one has ever called. It’s now been months and still no resolution.When collecting the car, I arrived 15 minutes early expecting queues (as I’d read in other reviews). Instead, they tried to charge me for an extra day just for being slightly early. They kept repeating that it was "company policy" and that nothing could be done. I offered to simply wait 15 minutes until my scheduled pick-up time, but they said that wasn’t possible because I was already "in the system." After a lot of back and forth, they finally relented and gave me the car without the extra day charge — but only after wasting time and creating unnecessary stress.The condition of the car was another issue. It was peppered with scratches, dents, and other visible damage, but the inspection form only listed one or two marks. When I asked the staff member to update the form to reflect the actual damage, he flatly refused. Thankfully, I took detailed photos and videos myself, which saved me from any disputes when I returned the car.On top of that, the fuel policy was completely misleading. My rental agreement clearly said the tank would be full when I picked the car up, and that I needed to return it full. In reality, the car only had a quarter of a tank. I was told to bring it back with the same amount, which is awkward to judge and obviously benefits them if customers overfill.Overall, while the staff made an effort to appear friendly and professional, my experience was that this company is dishonest and manipulative. They use every classic car hire trick — downgrading your vehicle, trying to sneak in extra charges, misrepresenting fuel policies, and then ignoring refund requests entirely.If you do choose to rent from them, document everything, take photos of the car inside and out, and don’t trust head office to follow up on anything. This was easily the most frustrating and untrustworthy rental experience I’ve ever had.

I want to give a detailed postive review here for overseas visitors. I am a tourist from Hong Kong. My trip to Barcelona in May 2025.Before I booked the car, when I read the Google comments , I was very hesitated. However, the actual experience was very good and smooth.I arrived the shop 08:00 in the morning on time which was same as my booking. William helped the registration smooth and fast. Maybe because I was not booking a luxurious car, so only needed 1 credit card for deposit. The car was same as my booking as Auto Gear and condition was good and new, only driven 15,000km. I made the booking online 1-2 months before so I guess they can plan the car in advance. When I returned the car, it was smooth too. (Like finish in 5 minute)After I come back to home , when I check the credit card statement , it is exactly the amount agreed.

Waited in a 2.5 hour queue in a hot garage only to be told that my reservation has been cancelled. Did I get an email about it? Nope. Did the guy seem to care at all or offer a solution? Of course not. Did multiple other people also get their bookings cancelled for random reasons? You bet.Don’t be tempted by the low prices and convenient locations, trust the other reviews and avoid this place like the plague.

Great, efficient service from Walter and William. Courteous service, no hidden charges, clear instructions. Car was available as requested and on-time. Alamo is one of the best! There are many scam car rental places in Europe to avoid, but Alamo is certainly a trusted partner. Thank you!
